If you’ve been watching our Messina Made series, you already know Nonna Carla.

But if you haven’t, Carla is the C.E.N (Chief Executive Nonna) of Gelato Messina. She and her husband emigrated to Adelaide from their hometown of Messina in Sicily in 1968. She’s the mum of two Messina owners, Nick and Danny, and now has three grandsons in the business too.

Unofficially? She’s the Nonna to all staff at Messinaville where we’re all very willing recipients of her generous daily, generously with love, Italian lunches.

At 12pm sharp, we listen out for the call of “Lunch is ready!”. Tools go down, meetings are pause, and all Messina staff gather together. For a moment, the factory slows. Plates are filled (and often refilled) and we sit, eat and catch up, doing exactly what Nonna believes good food should do, bring people together (and have us going back to work slightly too full).

Recently, Nonna found herself a little famous on Instagram (like 700,000 views famous... but she’s pretending not to notice). And whilst a lot of you already adore Nonna Carla and her story, you have to try her cooking. 

So for one night only, on Saturday 7th March, we’re opening up the Messinaville production factory and hosting Dinner with Nonna.

We’ll plate the menu along one long table stretching through the heart of our Messinaville factory, styled to perfection thanks to our friends at In The Round House and Maison Balzac.

Children are welcome to attend, however no modifications will be made to the ticket price.
