MESSINA X GET BAKED...? LET US EXPLAIN

Get Baked is a UK cake brand that’s basically achieved cult status. Their Bertha Chocolate Cake isn’t just a cake, it’s the cake. The one people queue for. The one people won’t shut up about. The cake they sell over 10,000+ slices of a week... like it's nothing.

To break it down, Bertha is not five, not ten, but twelve layers of rich dark chocolate cake, stacked with another twelve layers of a milk and dark chocolate blend to make the signature ganache.

So yes, she is technically twenty-four layers. A fact that explains both the cult following and why she's sold by the slice.

To give you an Australian point of reference, a Bertha slice is 50% heavier than a specific supermarket chocolate mud cake...

A slice gives you options. You can share it, if you’re feeling generous. Or, if the people around you don’t quite understand the sheer size and seriousness of Bertha, you can simply say, “Sorry, I only got a slice.” Which is true. Sneaky, but true.

We're hosting a Get Baked pop-up party in our Messinaville car park.

Bertha pre-orders open for in-store collection.

The team will be bust making your pre-ordered caked for dispatch.

Pre-ordered in-store collection starts. Pick up your bertha's from your selected store.

FROM DMS TO DOWN UNDER

Like most very sensible business decisions, this one started in the Instagram DMs.

Get Baked slid into ours with two words. No, not “you up?” Come on, we’re both very professional businesses here.

    They said, “International collab?”

    After an exhaustive internal review, several high-level meetings and absolutely no hesitation, we replied with a very sophisticated response: “surely.”

    A few conversations later

    Founder Rich declared that Australia could sell an “absolute f*ck load of Bertha.” We appreciated the thorough market research and decided to make it happen.

And that was apparently all it took to put a cult UK cake on a flight to Aus.

The Get Baked team are coming to Australia, Bertha is heading into production at Messinaville and, for the very first time, the UK’s most talked-about chocolate cake is officially going Down Under.

Two short DMs, one very large cake and a slightly ambitious international operation later, Messina x Get Baked: Bertha Downunder was born.

When you're making a lot of Bertha, you need A LOT of chocolate. Thanks to our friends at Mayern, who are coming to the party with over 2 tonnes of high quality Belgian chocolate to help us make Bertha down under.
