Messina 'Choc Tits' At The Museum Of Contemporary Art Australia
When the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) asked us to design a gelato 'choc tit' as part of their new exhibition, we didn't think twice.
There are some opportunities that cannot be missed. And there are some artists that make it their mission to confront an audience in order to impart a very wise message. Weiland is one of those artists.
Created as part of The National 2019: New Australian Art, the MCA commissioned artist Willoh S. Weiland in her new work, LICK LICK BLINK. The 10-minute cinema experience has been designed to enter solo, yes... that means you enter the MCA Theatre all by yourself with your 'choc tit' and become an active participant in the performance work. Inspired by the #metoo movement and Bechdel Test (a measurement highlighting female representation in pop culture), the artwork confronts the participant with the unlikely spectacle of a screen inhabited only by women.
We worked hand in hand with the artist and the MCA to create a delicious gelato 'choc tit', that accurately represented her vision, and the diversity of women that is often lacking in cinema.
The cone is filled with: milk gelato, milk jam, milk chantilly cream, milk crumbs, enrobed in milk chocolate and topped with a chocolate nipple.
How do you get one? It's completely free to experience Weiland's artwork and taste our limited-run of 'choc tits', but they're only accessible by booking into a session at the MCA info desk (level 1) on the performance day.
Running from the 29th March - 23rd June, exclusively at the MCA.
