Back in 2002, we started Messina in a tiny Darlinghurst shop with one simple goal: make the best gelato possible, no shortcuts. The fan base was small but mighty, the flavours were already a little unhinged (in the best way), and the dream was bigger than our store and freezer space.
Fast forward to today, we’ve grown, churned, and scooped our way across the country (and internationally). But along the way, one thing became clear: we needed more than just another factory. We needed a home.
Enter Messinaville. Built in Marrickville, this is where the gelato magic really happens: where recipes are tested, inclusions are made from scratch, and every scoop you get from a Messina store begins here.
Inside you’ll find our flagship gelato store, a chocolate counter, offices, and our full production factory all under one roof. From brownies to fudge, cheesecake to choc-chip, everything we serve is made right here. No shortcuts. No compromises on quality.
And because we never do things by halves, we’re turning the grand opening into a full-blown party. On Saturday 25th October, we’re celebrating the Messinaville launch with a day packed full of everything we love, gelato, food, and a whole lot of fun.
SHADOW BAKING FROM 8AM
Come in for a coffee and brekkie from 8am. Plus if you're one of the first 50 people to make a purchase at Shadow Baking you'll receive a complimentary croissant with your order. Talk about a great start to your morning!
MANGO PANCAKES IN THE CARPARK FROM 12PM
They’re back! Our famous mango pancakes will be flipping and rolling in the carpark, warm, fluffy, and impossible to eat neatly (but we're not judging).
FACTORY TOURS FROM 10AM
Ever wanted to peek behind the curtain of our Marrickville HQ? Now’s your chance.
We’re running a limited number of free, bookable factory tours, so you can see exactly where the Messina magic happens. Limited spots available. If you miss out on these, you'll be able to take yourself on a self guided tour of our kitchens in our interactive tunnel.

DATE NIGHT STUDIO FLOWERS
Our friends at Date Night Studio have been keeping Erin’s tables looking fresh and full of colour each week. 🌷
This weekend, they’ll be setting up in the car park with a bunch of beautiful bouquets for you to take home. Plus, they’ll be giving away a few sweet Erin x Date Night stems while they’re at it.
HEY DOODLE COLOURING STATION FROM 12PM
To keep the little ones busy, we'll have a few kids tables set up outside with our Hey Doodle x Messina colouring mats available for big or little kids to draw to their hearts content.
Plus if you purchase a Hey Doodle mat from Marrickville on the 25th you'll receive a complimentary scoop with purchase.
