We’ve all noticed the cost of living lately.
You pop into the supermarket for “a few things” and suddenly you’re doing mental maths in aisle three like it’s the HSC again. Eggs? Luxury. Carrots? Why are they that expensive. And don’t even start us on filling up petrol.
So we thought… yeah, nah. Let’s do something about it.
So every Monday in May, we’re rolling prices store prices all the way back to 2002
Hold on let us set the '02 vibes... ahem "Hey siri, play Complicated by Avril Lavigne"
Yep. Prices at every Messina store are going back to our 2002 prices. When we opened a tiny store in Darlinghurst with a pretty simple goal: make the best gelato we possibly could. We always hoped Messina would grow and be known for its creativity and quality… just didn’t think we’d end up here.
Fast forward exactly 24 years and we’ve got 35+ stores across Australia and 3 internationally (soon to increase 🤫), which whilst is still a bit wild to say out loud, we’re pretty proud of it.
If you want the full throwback moment, go visit the OG Darlinghurst store. Same spot. Same obsession with good gelato. Just slightly longer lines now that it's no longer just a Sydney kept secret.
The discount applies to in-store transactions made on Monday 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th specifically on items we had back in 2002. This includes:
- 1 Flavour - $3.80 (for those of you who just want one scoop, we've added this back to the Messina Monday's menu from week 2 after your feedback!)

UPDATES FOR 18TH & 25TH MESSINA MONDAYS IN MAY
We have partnered with LINES (you may know them as Bondi Lines OR Melbourne Lines) so you can check live queue updates on the LINES App before committing to an hour long situationship with our store. Download their app here.
Tub stock will also be updated in the Lines app. You will be able to find these updates in the Messina Group Chats on the app where you can also chat to other gelato lovers before heading down. There will be 10 x $50 Messina Vouchers given to the people who share the most updates on LINES App. Full T&C’s on LINES app.
- You can buy unlimited scoops, but tubs are limited to 1 x tub per transaction
- No pre-orders via the app. We don't want to make you wait 30+ min for your online order, it's pay in store only.
- Circular Quay, Martin Place and Darling Square Messina stores are scoops only for the final Monday due to VIVID.
- At 10:30pm (usually our store closing time), the lines will be cut off so our incredible Monday staff can go home and get some much needed sleep! So make sure you're in the queue before 10:30pm otherwise you will be asked to come back another time.
We’re rostering every available staff member we can to each store (events staff included). Some stores have smaller teams than others, but trust us, if they can scoop & pack a tub, they’ll be there.
T&Cs: Messina Mondays pricing applies every Monday in May to selected in-store purchases only. Max 1 tub (of any size) per transaction. Line cut of time is 10:30pm, however this is subject to stock availability ans stores may close earlier if they run out of stock. Discounted items are listed on the counter price list. Offer is subject to availability, if a listed tub size is unavailable, the discounted price cannot be applied to another size or product. 10 x $50 vouchers will be gifted to the top 10 LINES app users with the most points at the end of each Monday and will be contacted by LINES the following day ( Full T&C’s on LINES app)
